Direct Overseas Purchase from Jennifer Behr -Ordering sold-out items, Return Review

Jennifer Behr is a hair accessory brand based in the United States, often referred to as 'Gossip Girl Blair headbands' in South Korea. But nowadays, what should we call it for the MZ generation who might not be familiar with Gossip Girl?

Wanting these but feeling sad because it doesn't suit me

Mainly for weddings and party accessories, those preparing for weddings might have heard of it. Honestly, I think any item can be worn on a bare face. I tried Jennifer's items immediately when it arrived-to see how it looks, but I felt it was not right⋯.

If you search JB on the website, you might find Waldorf's headbands or photos of celebrities (By the way, the photo of the Duchess of Wales - Middletons- ribbon is from J-crew. inexpensive though). But it doesn't have a good finish for its price, and the metal types seem a bit serious.

This shop is specialized in sewing, I can understand. But every time I look at the bezel, I feel like my hair will get caught.

I have one metal hairpin but not satisfied with the crystal's cutting. Since it's a hair accessory, I'm just using it.  But if it were earrings or a necklace, I wouldn't purchase it. The most challenging part is that I want to see the regular outfits of ordinary people, but you could find only model photos on the web with distinctive colour or corrections-not helpful. Finding 'ordinary' user review photos is also extremely difficult.  Instagram shows model shots or influencer outfits, but not helpful too. We can't all have someone take our pictures or maintain a clean, fabulous background and photography equipment:(

There's a fundamental problem too, that Asian hair doesn't stay fixed like Westerners even when twisted and pinned once. Also, thin headbands with just a veil, uses a headband frame designed for Western head shapes (narrow at the front and long at the back), so they might not fit well on large-faced Asian headbands. So please consider this when purchasing veils if you're Asian.

What does this all mean? It's just⋯the band doesn't go all the way down, and rises above the hairline.

But compared to luxury brands, the price range is lower, and their fabric work is good.  Beading is a bit excessive but not tacky and quite pretty. If you dislike the colour scheme and material sensibility of domestic brands, it's a very good brand.

At first, I also thought, 'Hmm, wouldn't something similar be made somewhere in China?'

But it wasn't.

It became too modern or looked too cheap. I like this peculiarly outdated feminine feeling, but that feeling isn't there. If the price is cheap, the item seems like I could make it with materials bought from a local market, and that's not the vibe.

Despite writing many negative comments, there's an irreplaceable sentiment unique to this brand, so I'm spending my money and writing this... Even if the finish isn't great, it's not comparable to the Asian-made items that exploit labour without paying minimum wage. There's no substitute for the item you like here. It just doesn't exist. Just buy it. Buying 'cheap' will end up being a double loss. I've just saved your money and time.

Anyway, during the 2023 Black Friday season, while wandering around JB's site, I was really drawn to the Winter Season Colour (you've found another reason to spend money, truly endless). I purchased it with a 30% discount during the Black Friday sale.

There's also Cyber Monday, but by that time, most of the stock has usually been emptied, so I recommend buying when the Black Friday sale starts. Due to the season, the shipping was delayed, and it took about a week in terms of business days, but normally it arrives earlier.

The maximum discount on the official website during Black Friday or Summer/Winter Season is around 30% (Season ends have return restrictions), and the curated shops have the cheapest prices as they clear stock, usually offering free returns. However, in this case, there's a 99% chance that the desired design won't be available, so decide based on whether you want to try something at a discounted price or if you really want this product.

There's a first purchase 15% discount code, so if it's a seasonal or new product, just use the 15% discount code or if you're a bit hesitant, buy it from the curated shops (they usually provide first purchase discounts too). Because returning through the official website is inconvenient.

Ordering Sold-out Products on the JB Official Website

For most of the ongoing design items, clicking the waitlist when it's out of stock and registering your email will notify you when it is restocked.

For seasonal products- if it's sold out, it might be removed from the shop soon. In this case, you can request the order by email.

It takes around 2-4 weeks, and they'll send an invoice via Shopify(I didn't want it that badly, so I didn't place an order). Anyway, the order's payments get a separate invoice by mail. It seems not possible to apply discount codes.

Returning

Returning items is usually convenient for curated shops, providing free returns and pickup services, but it's a bit of a hassle for the official website.

Clicking on the 'Return link-Start a Return (Intl Orders)' at the bottom of the official website prompts.

The problem is here, either send it back yourself or call DHL through this link, but the DHL calling fee is over 45,000 KRW($34.5)...

The only option is a traceable airmail parcel. And based on EMS, sending it through the post office's standard size 1 box costs less than 34,000 KRW($26), so please consider this...
